Claiming my DTH
Jul. 9th, 2017 03:18 pmHey, so I'm way late on this because
dracotops_harry wrapped up like two months ago, but better late than never, right?
Title : You Send Me (Honest You Do)
Wordcount : 37k
Rating/Warnings : Explicit - dub-con for drunken sex, de-aging
Summary : As far as potion accidents go in general, and deaging incidents go in particular, Draco knew this could have been so much worse. Harry only lost about ten years, and all his memories are still intact. But the sight of him looking as if he’s stepped straight out of Draco’s Hogwarts memories has dredged up a whole mess of complicated feelings Draco thought he’d buried years ago, and Draco really doesn’t know what to do with any of it.
Author's Notes : Title from Sam Cooke’s “You Send Me.” A big thank you to catplusfox & capitu, for the beta-reading, typo-catching, handholding, and cheerleading. You’re the best! And a big thank you to the mods. This is one of my favorite fests, thanks so much for all the hard work you do making it run. <3
I actually wasn't planning on writing for DTH this year, but I was chatting with
ustorycollector about the fest and, well, she is very persuasive. XD I knew the first few months of the year would be rough, and I wasn't writing much, but I figured "oh, I'll just keep it short" which, honestly, I should know by now isn't a thing that ever happens lol. Part of the length of this one came from it being one of the most wonderfully self indulgent things I've written in a very long time, which I had a lot of fun with. (tattoos! bickering! PINING!!) But wow was it hard getting the words to come. After I finished, I was sort of surprised to realize that I wrote this in very nearly the exact same time frame as There Is Always the Moon, and with very nearly the same amount of effort. Which, yikes, TIAtM is ~120k longer. Really put in perspective how difficult writing has been for me lately, which I think was actually a very good and very necessary realization to make, and I find that I'm stressing much less about this stretch of relative unproductiveness because of it.
But yeah, anyhow, I'm really glad that I let myself be talked into doing this, because I'm very happy this fic exists and it was really nice to post something, and I got very lucky with the timing of when it posted because the comments were coming in at a time when I very much needed something good. If you read and/or commented, thank you. As always, I appreciate it more than words can say <3
