January Goals

firethesoundHere we are at the start of another month. I've had a long break from writing due to the holidays, but now I've got my spreadsheets all zeroed out and I'm ready to make some more words!
December Wrap-Up : I finished the month with 5738 words, which definitely meets my goal of 2500 for the month. A total of 10 fics (6 HP, 4 MCU) got new words added to them, and only 1 of those was a new WIP. I know I'd deliberately set a low bar to cross, but I'm very excited to have cleared it!
January Wordcount Goal : 50k
I'm not sure I'm going to make this one. I'm going to be joininggracerene's NaNoWriMo in January so I'm hoping that the start of the year + other people with the same goal will = extra motivation. But I'm going to lose pretty much all of my writing time for the second week of January and I'm not sure if I can get enough words done in the other three weeks to make up for it. I'm trying not to repeat the mistake I made last year, where I got a huge number of words done in the beginning of the year and then was burned out by March and got almost nothing done the rest of the year. So, if I don't make it, I don't make it, and I'm not going to worry overly much about it. I'm certainly going to try, but if it's honestly too much, I'm not going to force myself to finish. ::nod:: I think I can get most of the way there, though, so we'll see!
January Fics to Focus On :
Stay (aka Don't Think Twice #5) : currently at 3425. This is currently Number One Biggest Priority, and in fact after I finish up this entry I fully intend to open up that doc and add some more words to it. I am aiming to get at least this one finished this month, with a stretch goal of Stay + DTT#6 finished. Estimated finished wordcount, 7-8k, definitely under 10.
You Believe in Love, I Believe in Fate (aka Erised Attempt #1 from 2015) : currently at 18806. I want to get at least the rest of the first chapter done, which I think will take me another 5-10k. I'm also getting close to the point where I'm going to have to decide whether I want to add in Ginny/Luna as a side pairing or not. I'm leaning towards yes, because I do like that relationship, and I've already got a nice scene written out with the two of them together that could be tweaked from "they're very good friends" to "they're enormously in love" with very minimal effort. Estimated finished wordcount, a very loose 180k and I'll be adjusting this estimate as I make more progress and get a better idea of how long this thing will actually take me.
Double Winter Solder : currently at 911 (and I sort of love that it ended on this number!) I think I have an idea of how I want it to go, but I'm still poking at it to see if I can make it work the way I want it to. Estimated finished wordcount, a very loose 25-30k, and we'll see if it comes anywhere near that once I actually start writing. \o/
Additional Goals :
Finish reading Erised which I can definitely get done by the end of the month but am not super optimistic about finishing before reveals. I basically didn't get any reading done around Christmas so I'm way behind, and there were a bunch of long fics that posted later in the fest, and I haven't gotten to any of them because I'm still in the process of leaving an appropriately flaily comment on my gift. But I am going to try to get through as many as I can before reveals go up!
Keep going on comment replies because I made some good progress but I'm not there yet.
