Another New Year

Here we are (mostly) at the start of another new year. I'd intended to do this closer to the first of the month, but the last couple of months have been a bit of a roller coaster for me and emotionally I'm pretty much running on fumes by this point. But, we're still in January which is still the beginning of the year, so for now that's going to have to be enough.
2018 Fandom Goals
Again, this wasn't the most productive writing year for me. But I finished the year with 109,165 words and I'm very pleased to have gotten over 100k since that's a pretty significant improvement over last year when I only wrote 67k.
And I have two completed fics! (well, three completed fics if we're counting Firewhisky Fic, which I am not since it needs quite a lot of (sober) editing before I'd want to post it anywhere else. I love it for what it is, but yikes XD
2018 Posted Fic
(And I'll get around to writing up claiming posts for both of those sooner or later!)
I also didn't do too bad in meeting my 2018 goals:
--sign up for fewer fests - Success! I spent most of the year working on my FTH fic, which is now shamefully overdue, but I also did FanFair, and picked up a pinch hit for Erised.
--finish comment replies - Partial Success! I did, for one brief and glorious moment last spring, get 100% totally and completely caught up on comment replies, but I've slipped on it again and let another backlog build up.
--write for 240 days in 2018 - Fail! I only made words on 180 days in 2018.
--write 300k in 2018 - Fail! I only made 109k in 2018, though it's an improvement from last year, so I'm pleased enough with it.
--get my WIPs down - Fail! The only things I posted this year were new fics, and I added more WIPs to the WIP Folder of Doom. However, I did manage to get the WIP Folder of Doom organized; I sorted WIPs by fandom, deleted several that I knew for certain I was never going to finish, and changed some of the titles to things that actually described the contents. I can actually find stuff in it now!
--continue with WIP Wednesday posts - (Mostly) Success! I missed a few here and there, but I was mostly good about keeping it up throughout the year.
--post more on DW - Fail! Other than WIP posts, I didn't manage to get much else done. It was mostly, the longer I'd go without posting the more difficult it got, so I just ended up not doing it.
This was also the first time I helped mod Erised, and while I was very nervous going into it (because Erised!!) it was an incredibly positive and rewarding experience and I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to help run such a wonderful fest. It also helped me feel more motivated and more connected to fandom, and I'm really excited to help do it again next year :D
2019 Fandom Goals
--This year I'd really like to post on DW more often. With the recent tumblr shenanigans, there's been a noticeable uptick in activity around here, and I'd like to help keep that going.
--I'd like to write 150,000 words this year. I signed up for GYWO again and even though I was tempted by the 300k goal, I finally accepted that I'm not writing as much as I used to and that I ought to lower the goal to something I've actually got a hope of achieving.
--I'd like to write at least 120 days out of the year, because most of my problem of not making many words is just that I have a really hard time making myself sit down and start. I tried for 240 days last year and didn't make it, so I'm lowering it to something I think is more achievable.
--I really want to get my FTH fic finished and posted this year. I'm setting a tentative deadline of June 1 for this, with the beginning of August as the absolute latest I need to get it done by, since I'm trying to limit how much I've got going on in the fall. I've got a great big chunk of it written, and I've got most of the rest of it plotted out, and I'm determined to get this done.
--I'd also like to sign up for at least one, but no more than two, fest(s). Maybe DracoTops, maybe Tropes (which I hear is back this year!!), maybe FanFair, depending on what the theme is. We'll see what prompts grab me.
--And last but not least, I want to get caught up on comment replies again, and most importantly, to keep up with them as I go. I really do appreciate each and every comment I get, and I need to be better about responding to them.
So, there we go. Not much different than my goals of years past, but I'm feeling pretty good about them. I've got a very good feeling about 2019 in general and, despite being anxious and drained right now, the year really is off to an excellent start for me. ::crosses fingers, knocks on wood::

- The Way These Days Seem to Go (And Go) - 15k, T - Stress baking isn’t a hobby Harry ever thought he’d pick up, but he’s surprised to find how much it helps him to get through those long months post-war. It keeps his hands busy, it keeps his mind occupied, and when Draco Malfoy steadily pushes his way back into Harry's life, it helps with that too.
- It's Not a Passing Fascination - 9.5k, E - One of Harry's favourite things is watching Malfoy work.
