The fic written for me for Tropes -- Potential Gravity -- posted today, and it's so, so good. (Well, so far. I haven't actually finished reading it yet...) When I signed up, I listed a whole bunch of things I like, figuring that if I had a huge list, then whoever got assigned me would be able to find at least something they enjoyed writing about. I assumed they'd pick a few things from it and go from there. But this wonderful brilliant person took that as a challenge and included nearly all of them, so the whole thing basically might as well be called Firethesound's Favorite Things and I just...

But they went one step beyond that, and it's absolutely undone me. There's Mug-Harry. Mug-Harry is in this fic. AND THERE IS WINKING. MUG-HARRY WINKING. SAUCILY. And I am entirely unashamed to admit that I screamed out loud, flailed my arms, and then burst into tears. And that's another thing I said I liked, fics that make me cry, and maybe this wasn't where the author intended me to do it, but I have, so I guess that's a success. I just... I haven't been in a terribly good place recently, mentally or emotionally, and the fact that someone cared this fucking much about putting together a story I'd like that they'd go so far as taking the ridiculous random list of things I like and working out a story that slots it all together, and then do more on top of that, I just have no idea what to do with it. Except cry, apparently. And tell everyone else I know to read this too.

I'm going to go make a cup of tea, calm the fuck down, and finish reading.

EDIT: Finished it, it was awesome. I am flailing.

Haha, if you still lived where you did before I would probably just show up on your doorstep. The first thing I did when you told me where you are now is look to see how long a drive it is and it's like 11 hours. So, not something that can be done on a whim, sadly. I definitely want to visit again, though!!

I don't know what crazy list you posted, but it made for a truly awesome brain-melting fic. And yes, it shows all the care and affection MA put into it, but it's no less than you deserve! I dont think you realize how wonderful you are, bebé, as a writer (one of my High Five! Woot!) but also as a person . And how loved you are too!

Had Saturday night game people over last night which is me and a bunch of guys

I keep thinking of things I'd like to comment on as well that I somehow managed to miss, but so far I've talked myself out of adding more. Because there really really doesn't need to be more, lol. So much flailing, though. I'm still hardly able to believe that someone wrote something that hits all of my likes so perfectly.

I'm so delighted this was written for you. The only thing that could make reading a great fic more enjoyable is knowing that it was tailor-made to make such an awesome and lovely person happy. I haven't finished it, but I've loved what I read so far.

And I want to take you out of that bad place and put you on a pile of big squashy cushions and wear dinosaur outfits and flomp about on them with you, roaring and generally being fierce and cool and scary. Then drink tea and eat cake together.

Ooooh, I would love so much to come have tea with you. I was ALMOST in the UK about a month ago, but then my stupid cat had all sorts of stupid (and expensive) medical problems and I had to be a responsible adult with a budget and cancel my trip. My friend's going to be going to Europe next summer and wants me to come too, but I have other stuff going on around then and I'm not sure it'll work out schedule-wise. I'd love to come flail at you in person, though. <3

That was an AMAZING fic! And the pining! Oh my, Harry. I love how the story progressed, and how Harry grows with each passing page.

I'm really glad you liked it. It was so terrifying talking about Tropes with you because I was deathly afraid I was going to slip up and mention something that would give me away. I think the final product gave me away pretty hard. So much of this fic came from conversations with you, like when I realized that I had to put things from your fics (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/283413/283413_1000.png) into this one, as a tribute (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/283807/283807_600.png), like you did for me and other authors with your fics. [Mug!Harry is from Stop All the Clocks and Harry's mention of being stuck in a room trying to broil him and Draco alive is from All Our Secrets].

Bugs seemed to go over well in my last fic, and you especially love bugs (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/284101/284101_600.png), so I had to include that, too. I want you to know that I seriously considered doing this (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/284354/284354_600.png) to you for about 7 minutes. I worried for a little while about not holding true to the spirit of the fest, but then I kept reminding myself (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/284492/284492_600.png) that I was writing for a specific person, not a community, and fuck them if they didn't like it. This was a clusterfuck from the beginning for me, but knowing you were having the same issues (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/284689/284689_600.png) made it easier for me to finish it right for you. And then once it posted, it was like the worst day of my life waiting for you to actually read it because WHAT IF YOU HATED IT and you were taking so fucking long (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/285414/285414_600.png)! And then there was this heart-stopping moment (http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/zeitgeistic/9294752/285490/285490_600.png) when I realized how fucking recognizable I really am, and over such a stupid thing! Damn you for having that Google Doc open at the same time as the fic posted. Except not, because we both know I am absolute shit at playing it cool.

OMG YOUUUUU!!!!!!! I can't believe you had me second-guessing myself! Though it probably would have taken me longer to think it was you if I hadn't opened that google doc just then, lol. Mug-Harry made me suspect you again because you're one of very few people I've told that I do that with my fics, but then again the duck in the one I did for Birds was obvious and so maybe anyone could have picked up on that, so back to flailing and second-guessing. And I was so right to be excited because it really was the best thing ever and I'm still beside myself with sheer flailing joy that someone managed to make something this perfectly suited to my tastes. It's amazing and I don't know how I can ever thank you enough to show you just how much I love it.

Also, this comment with all the pictures? Has me absolutely cracking up. Every time I think you can't get any more amazing, you outdo yourself. <3
