And another post!! Really making an effort to be around more... usually the holidays are so hectic that fandom sort of falls off for a while, but this year I'm still high on Erised excitement and we have neither travel nor houseguests planned thanks to the pandemic and as sad as I am about how long it's been since I've seen family and friends, I'm actually really looking forward to getting to have a nice, quiet, totally low-key, completely relaxed holiday at home where I don't have to deal with anyone else's expectations, or nonsense, or drama. This is the first year in ages that my anxiety isn't skyrocketing at the mere thought of Christmas, which means I've actually got time for fandom stuff!
New words this week : 208 words which isn't too much but is also not nothing.
WIPs worked on this week : 1, no new WIPs (yay!)
HP
☆ Secrets the Sequel : 208 words which brings the total to 8329, and this is pretty far down the writing queue at present but I'm not currently working on anything at present and so was rifling through the WIP Folder of Doom and pulling up old fics at random to figure out what I ought to work on next, and--ha, funny story--panicked because the doc for this thing only had 3k in it when it should have 8k, and I ended up tearing apart the upstairs, which most of my desk stuff is still in boxes from moving, trying to find an old external hard drive to get at an old backup of my writing. Found it, had further panic when my computer refused to recognize the drive after I plugged it in, realized that I am a giant idiot and unplugged the charging cable of my headphones from the usb adapter, and then instead of plugging in the cord to the hard drive I plugged the headphones back in. (In my defense, both cables are black.) Then finally got it sorted out and booted up... and realized that I am an even more giant idiot and had actually pulled out all the notes and scene snippets and tossed it into a different doc from what's written out, and it was all right here the whole time. But, all's well that ends well I guess, and I ended up adding little bits here and there as I read.

Date: 2020-12-05 01:56 am (UTC)Haha, my WIP Folder of Doom is a thing of terror, and is not called that for nothing. At last count (mumblemumbletwoyearsago...) I had 100+ WIPs for (I think?) something like 350k? And it's only grown since then. I'm about to dig through it again in a futile attempt to get organized going into the new year and I'm already dreading to see what it is now... XD XD XD
Omg the worst part of moving is the bits and bobs!! I've moved about every 3 years for basically my entire adult life, and I don't think I've ever been fully unpacked in any of the places I've lived. Digging through boxes for something lost has been the gift that won't stop giving and I am DETERMINED to end it this time. Eventually. ::crosses fingers::

Date: 2020-12-06 05:22 am (UTC)Oh no! some of my stuff is still at my parents, so maybe that's worse, in a way? like at least the bits and bobs are there, even if they're buried?
and here's to a lovely and peaceful December full of our two favorite characters <3

Date: 2020-12-07 01:20 am (UTC)Haha, I think that is definitely worse to have the bits and bobs spread out between two places! Like, is the thing missing or is it just elsewhere? XD
Hear hear for a lovely and peaceful December! <3
